This year, Pack 46 participated in the annual Scouting for Food service project. Our neighborhood area was within border streets of Gaston Avenue to the North, East Grand Avenue to the East, Cristler Avenue to the South, and Santa Fe Avenue/Lakewood Country Club to the West. A total of 510 food items were collected, including 275 donations from the neighborhood canvas plus 235 items collected from the White Rock Montessori School canned food drive. The scouts proudly delivered the food items to the Tejas Caddo collection point at White Rock Center of Hope. Thank you to everyone who participated in distributing sacks and picking up donations over this two week project. Our pack put the Cub Scout Promise into action - "I promise to help other people.”

Our February pack meeting will focus on a collecting theme. Kristen Munoz, who is the current keeper of Nature Exchange, will be our guest speaker. She will tell us about the collection, including how it's kept and organized. Scouts are encouraged to bring a small collection of special items (rocks, pins, patches, etc.) to display during the meeting.

I can sense the vibrations of the cars running down the track and the excitement from the crowd as they cheer on the cars at this fun-filled event. Great time and effort have been invested by the scouts and their Akela in building these cars. Remember trophies will be awarded to the scout's finishing in first, second, and third place. In addition, awards will be named for the following categories:

The Pack meeting on Sunday, December 4 focused on a service project for the SoupMobile. During the meeting, Pack 46 scouts and family members made 1,650 sandwiches to help alleviate hunger in our city. This project offered a terrific opportunitiy for family members of all ages to participate. Thank you to everyone who participated and to Gigi Ekstrom for coordinating this important project.

This campout has been canceled due to a variety of schedule conflicts that have arisen. Watch for updates once the campout is recheduled.

Fun times are expected at the 2011 Pack 46 Fall Family Campout scheduled for the weekend of November 4-6 at Camp Wisdom.
